Leveraging for Impact as a Pharmacist - What are the options beyond our technical expertise and knowledge?

Our professionalism will have differing perspectives in definition depending on the stakeholder involved. To the regulator, our standard of practice is of paramountcy in order to protect the public. To the consumer or beneficiary of our profession, it’s the impact our act of professionalism brings to lives. One principal and primary asset as professionals are our technical experts and know-how.

1. Would we say our knowledge and technical expertise are enough to exert our impact as professionals, on our major stakeholders & partners?
2. Are there other skills beyond our technical expertise that could augment or enhance our impact as professionals?

Soft-Skills is one of the many skills that could significantly enhance our expertise for functional impact.

Soft skills are non-technical skills that describe how we work and interact with others. Unlike hard skills, they're not necessarily something you'll learn in a course, like data analytics or programming. Instead, they reflect our social and interpersonal skills, character traits, and professional attitudes.  2022 Top soft skills include the following:

• Work Ethics

Any time you interact with a co-worker, client, or any other stakeholder, you can use soft skills to make your work easier, more efficient, and more impactful. Developing and improving our soft skills is important because they can help you perform your job tasks successfully and further your professional development.

The virtual workshop will seek to explore how soft skills could assist enhance the impact of technical expertise, in the specific context of a professional pharmacist, in situations such as below:

• Pharmacist-Patient interactions & engagements in the Hospital or Community.

This will be a virtual event. happening on  Tuesday the 20th of December 2022 and Chaired by Pharm. Stephen Bonnah. (PSGh Greater Accra Region Chairman). The virtual venue will be the CES Platform
