AGENDA
Hypertension is defined by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as persistently raised high blood pressure (BP) and affects a significant proportion of the population in Ghana. Hypertension increases the risk of cardiovascular and related diseases, including heart attacks, strokes, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Globally, around one-half of all deaths from stroke and heart disease are attributable to hypertension.
The Ghana College of Pharmacists in collaboration with Bayer Pharmaceutical have organized this training on the latest evidence and practical points on hypertension management, with focus on the role of the pharmacist.
By the end of this training, it is hoped that participants will learn:
1. Current guidelines in the management of hypertension
2. Latest research and clinical-based evidence supporting current guidelines
3. Become familiar with the common pharmaceutical care issues in the management of hypertension
4. Gain an understanding of their integral role in the management of hypertension
