
In recognition of World Blood Donation Day (June 14) and World Sickle Cell Day (June 19), the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) is proud to host a virtual CPD-accredited webinar titled “Enhancing Sickle Cell Care – The Role of the Pharmacist.” This timely and interactive training program will assemble a distinguished panel of experienced facilitators, including pharmacist specialists in sickle cell care, representatives from the National Blood Service Ghana, and individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD).
This webinar is designed to spotlight the critical role pharmacists play across the continuum of SCD care—from medication optimization and patient support, to policy advocacy and blood donation campaigns. With a mix of clinical insights, lived experiences, and public health perspectives, the session aims to deepen understanding and inspire action among pharmacists to become key change agents in SCD care delivery in Ghana and beyond.

2. Person Living with Sickle Cell Disease
Subtopic: Living with Sickle Cell – The Daily Journey
Focus: A first-hand account from an individual living with SCD, offering insights into the daily challenges, personal resilience, and the impact of compassionate and coordinated healthcare support.
3. Representative – National Blood Service Ghana
Subtopic: Caring Beyond Medicines – The Role of Blood Donation in SCD Management
Focus: This session will emphasize the life-saving role of blood transfusions in SCD care, and discuss how pharmacists can actively contribute to blood donation awareness and drive participation through community engagement.
