The Cardiorenal-Metabolic Summit – Ghana 2026 is a half-day, faculty-led scientific meeting for physicians, specialists and allied prescribers managing patients with type 2 diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease and heart failure. It is built on a single premise: these are not four separate diseases in four separate clinics, but overlapping manifestations of one cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic continuum in one patient.

Across four scientific sessions and an integrated grand-round panel, faculty will move the conversation beyond glycaemic control alone towards organ protection. Sessions cover repositioning cardiorenal protection as a treatment priority in type 2 diabetes; practical strategies for detecting chronic kidney disease early in hypertensive and diabetic populations; accelerating foundational guideline-directed medical therapy across the heart failure ejection-fraction spectrum; and confronting the residual cardiovascular risk that persists after conventional lipid targets are met.

The programme is deliberately practice-oriented. Each session is anchored in current international guidance and interpreted for the Ghanaian clinical setting, with attention to what can realistically be screened, initiated and monitored at district, regional and teaching hospital level. The closing grand-round panel takes a single integrated patient scenario and work through the treatment decisions collectively, so that participants leave with a defined set of take-home actions rather than four parallel sets of recommendations

Facilitated by distinguished clinicians and subject matter experts with extensive experience in cardiovascular, renal, metabolic and diabetes care, this highly interactive session combines expert presentations, real-world clinical perspectives, and a dynamic expert panel discussion that will allow participants to engage directly with leading specialists.

Whether you are involved in primary care, specialist practice, hospital medicine, pharmacy, nursing, or any discipline involved in the care of patients with diabetes, kidney disease, or cardiovascular conditions, this event promises practical knowledge that can immediately enhance clinical practice.

WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND

This programme has been carefully designed to deliver practical, evidence-based knowledge that can be applied immediately in clinical practice.

By attending, you will:

1.       Explain the cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic continuum and justify why a single patient with type 2 diabetes, hypertension,   CKD or heart failure requires integrated rather than organ-siloed management.

2.       Reposition cardiorenal protection as a treatment priority in type 2 diabetes, selecting therapy on the basis of comorbidity and   organ risk rather than HbA1c alone.

3.       Apply a practical CKD screening algorithm in hypertensive and diabetic patients using eGFR and urine albumin-to-creatinine   ratio, and interpret results against the KDIGO risk classification.

4.     Initiate and up-titrate foundational guideline-directed medical therapy across the heart failure ejection-fraction spectrum, and identify the causes of clinical inertia that delay complete therapy.

5.  Define residual cardiovascular risk, apply guideline LDL-C goals for high and very-high-risk patients, and escalate lipid-lowering therapy appropriately when goals are not met.

6.  Translate the above into a coordinated management plan for a patient presenting with more than one cardiorenal-metabolic condition.

     7. Participate in a highly interactive learning experience with opportunities to ask questions and discuss real-world clinical challenges

      8. Earn accredited CPD points from the relevant professional regulatory bodies.

      9. Network virtually with colleagues and experts across multiple healthcare disciplines.
