
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that poses increasing challenges for patients, families, and healthcare systems in Ghana. With an aging population and a growing prevalence of PD, pharmacists play a critical role in improving diagnosis, care, and management.

This virtual CPD training brings together pharmacists to explore the growing burden of Parkinson’s disease in Ghana, equipping them with practical knowledge and skills to support early diagnosis, optimize pharmacological management, and provide effective patient counseling. Through an interactive session led by a highly experienced resource person, participants will engage in case-based discussions, learn evidence-based strategies to improve adherence and care, and gain tools to educate patients and communities, ultimately enhancing the pharmacist’s role in reducing stigma and strengthening overall healthcare delivery.
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
1. Explain the pathophysiology, symptoms, and progression of Parkinson’s disease.
2. Identify early warning signs and support timely diagnosis.
