Thursday 14th November 2024 (VIRTUAL EVENT)
The MASTERCLASS IN PET IMAGING & TARGETED THERAPIES FOR CANCER CARE begins with a foundational session, THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PET SCANS IN ONCOLOGY – A CORNERSTONE OF MODERN CANCER CARE. This session provides an in-depth exploration of how PET imaging has transformed oncology by enhancing the precision of cancer diagnosis, staging, treatment planning, and monitoring. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the mechanisms behind PET technology and its unique ability to visualize metabolic activity in cancerous cells. Led by top experts in the field, this session also addresses the advantages and limitations of PET imaging, equipping attendees with practical insights to integrate PET into multidisciplinary cancer care for improved patient outcomes.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the fundamental role and applications of PET scans in oncology, including cancer diagnosis, staging, and treatment planning.
2. Comprehend the mechanism of PET imaging and how it visualizes metabolic activity within cancerous cells.
3. Assess the benefits and limitations of PET imaging in comparison with other imaging modalities in oncology.
4. Identify the ways PET scans support personalized treatment approaches and improve response monitoring.
5. Discuss the integration of PET imaging into multidisciplinary cancer care teams to enhance decision-making and patient outcomes.
