Professor Nick Ossei-Gerning is a highly accomplished Consultant Interventional Cardiologist with a distinguished career spanning diverse roles and significant contributions to the field of cardiology. Currently, he serves as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Gloucestershire Hospital Foundation NHS Trust, where he practices as both a General and Interventional Cardiologist. In this capacity, he actively engages in teaching Junior doctors and delivers lectures on a broad spectrum of topics within General and Interventional Cardiology.

During the period from April 2017 to May 2020, Professor Ossei-Gerning held the position of Medical Director at Euracare Advanced Diagnostic & Heart Centre in Accra, Ghana. In this role, he successfully established the center with the aim of transforming the landscape of Cardiology in Sub-Saharan Africa. Beyond his clinical responsibilities, he chaired and served as a Plenary Speaker for numerous meetings and conferences across the African continent, contributing significantly to the advancement of cardiovascular care.

Prior to his role in Ghana, Professor Ossei-Gerning served as an Interventional Cardiologist at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, from 2003 to 2017. During this period, he played a pivotal role in setting up several programs in complex coronary interventions. His contributions extended to conducting lectures for students and junior medical and ancillary staff, for which he received the Excellence Award as Clinical Tutor of the Year in 2013. Professor Ossei-Gerning demonstrated leadership in research, with an extensive list of publications covering various cardiovascular issues. Additionally, he supervised PhD and Masters’ students, served as the Lead Clinician for the Chest Pain Service, and successfully established the Resistant Hypertension Group.

His expertise in Complex Coronary Interventions is evident through his leadership in the Chronic Total Occlusion team, introduction and proctoring of Radial, Laser, and Rotational Atherectomy Programs, and participation in the Trans Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) team. Professor Ossei-Gerning's training includes completing basic medical training at University College Hospital, London, and cardiology and interventional training at the Yorkshire Heart Centre in Leeds, obtaining his CCT in 2001. His Interventional Fellowship at the University of Alberta, Canada, in June 2002, further enriched his skills.

Professor Ossei-Gerning's achievements extend beyond clinical practice to academic recognition. He was honored with the title of Professor of Practice at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in July 2016, acknowledging his contributions to Cardiology and Erectile Dysfunction. He holds the Silas Dodu Chair of Cardiology and Distinguished Visiting Professorship at the University of Cape Coast School of Medical Sciences. Additionally, he chairs the Sub Saharan Africa Myocardial Infarction and Stroke Group (SAMIS), focusing on improving MI and Stroke management in the region.

Renowned as a leading authority on Vasculogenic Erectile Dysfunction (ED), Professor Ossei-Gerning is a member of British, European, and International Societies for Sexual Medicine. He has made significant contributions to the field, particularly in pudendal stenting for ED, leading the implementation of the world's first truly multi-disciplinary team with international status to manage patients with ED.

As an Interventional Cardiologist, Professor Ossei-Gerning is a sought-after speaker nationally and internationally. He is a regular faculty member of British and European Cardiac Interventional Societies and serves as a Co-Course Director of Africa Percutaneous Revascularisation. His extensive involvement includes serving as the Network Advisor for the Royal College of Physicians and the British Cardiovascular Society for South East Wales. Moreover, he has served on the Executive Board of the Welsh Cardiovascular Society and as a member of the Medical Advisory Committee at the Spire Cardiff Hospital for 10 years.
