Prof. Joel Yarney is a medical specialist in oncology and radiotherapy with extensive experience in clinical practice, academic work, and international collaboration in cancer care. He has contributed significantly to the development of oncology services in Ghana and across Africa through clinical leadership, research, training, and policy support. His work spans patient care, cancer epidemiology, and capacity building, with active involvement in international programmes and partnerships aimed at improving access to quality cancer treatment in low- and middle-income settings.
He has served in multiple leadership and advisory roles, including consultancy work with international agencies and participation in committees focused on oncology training, examinations, and guideline development. He is actively engaged in research with numerous peer-reviewed publications addressing cancer management, outcomes, and health systems challenges in sub-Saharan Africa. He also contributes to postgraduate medical education, supervision, and curriculum development, supporting the training of future oncology professionals.
