Prof. Jane Afriyie-Mensah is a distinguished Consultant Pulmonologist and Physician Specialist at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana. She is also affiliated with the University of Ghana and has significant expertise in both clinical practice and academic roles, specializing in respiratory and internal medicine. Prof. Afriyie-Mensah manages respiratory clinics and medical in-patient care, oversees respiratory referrals, medical ICU supervision, and lung function testing. She plays an active role in bedside teaching and lectures to junior and senior clerks and contributes significantly to resident education.

Her academic focus extends to respiratory diseases and infectious mycology, with notable research contributions in chronic pulmonary conditions, particularly within the Ghanaian healthcare context. Her recent publications include studies on chronic pulmonary aspergillosis following tuberculosis treatment and investigations into lung cancer patient characteristics in Ghana. Her professional training includes a Fellowship in Pulmonology from the West Africa College of Physicians, completed at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. She further advanced her clinical expertise as a Clinical Fellow in Respiratory Medicine at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester, UK, where she contributed to acute medical decision-making, respiratory in-patient management, and specialized outpatient clinics. Her international training also includes an observership in Pulmonology at Northwestern University in Chicago and specialized training in communicable diseases in Tokyo, Japan.

Prof. Afriyie-Mensah has secured sponsorships from esteemed organizations such as the National Research Foundation and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, underlining her commitment to advancing clinical research and healthcare delivery. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Physician Specialist in the Respiratory and Rheumatology departments at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where she trained house officers and clinical students while managing acute medical cases. She has also gained practical experience working at 37 Military Hospital and managing a Medical Naval Base Medical Centre during her tenure as a Medical Officer.
