Prof. Alfred Edwin Yawson MB ChB, MSc (LSE), DLSHTM, FWACP, FGCP

Professor Alfred Edwin Yawson has over nineteen years of medical practice and research experience. He has a BSc. (Honours) in Medical Sciences and MB ChB, from the University of Ghana Medical School, an MSc in Health Policy, Planning, and Financing from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Diploma in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine of the University of London.

He is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (Community Health), a Fellow of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (Public Health), and a member of the WHO Team for the Multinational Study on Ageing and Adult Health (SAGE). He is the principal investigator on the WHO World Health Survey Plus (WHS+) in Ghana. A Professor of the University and Dean, University of Ghana Medical School, College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana. He has worked, established networks, and provided services for international organizations including, the World Bank, Global Financing Facility, Global Fund, WHO, UNICEF, USAID, JICA, GIZ, PATH, and FHI 360, as well as key national corporate organizations (Volta River Authority and Gold Fields Ghana). He is deeply involved with the accreditation processes and assessment of medical schools for the Medical and Dental Council (MDC) and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) over the last six years.
