Dr. William Mgisha is a Specialist Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon based at the Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, which serves as the national referral institute. He also holds the position of Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Orthopaedics, Traumatology, and Neurosurgery at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS). In addition to his clinical and academic responsibilities, he serves as the MOI Program Manager for the Surgical Implant Generation Network (SIGN), an international initiative supporting surgical implant donations.

He holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and a Master of Medicine in Orthopaedics and Traumatology (MMed Orth) from MUHAS. His clinical interests include pelvis and acetabular surgery, hip preservation, joint replacement, limb lengthening, deformity correction, and the management of musculoskeletal infections. Dr. Mgisha is actively involved in orthopedic research and has contributed to numerous scientific publications in reputable journals.

Beyond his institutional roles, Dr. Mgisha represents Ortho TV Africa, a global platform for orthopaedic professionals, and has been instrumental in organizing and facilitating various training programs and webinars aimed at advancing orthopedic practice in Tanzania and the region. He is affiliated with several professional bodies, including the Tanzania Orthopaedic Association (TOA), the Hip and Pelvis Society of Eastern Africa (HPSEA), and the Indian Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (IAOS).
