Dr. Nana Kwame Ayisi-Boateng is a Family Physician and a Lecturer in the Department of Medicine, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and technology. a trainer of Family Medicine residents at the post-graduate level

His expertise is in the care of chronic medical conditions; infectious diseases (HIV/AIDS, COVID-19), and non-communicable diseases (Asthma, Hypertension, Diabetes and Stroke). On a weekly basis, he runs a Family Medicine Clinic at the University Hospital, KNUST, where he attends to patients with chronic medical conditions such as asthma, sickle cell disease, stroke, hypertension, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis.

In the area of research, he is the Trial Clinician for the Filariasis Team at the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR). He has served as Principal Investigator or co-investigator in HIV-related research, COVID-19 and other studies.

He is a Fellow of Queen Elizabeth II Hall, Alumni Coordinator for the School of Medicine and Dentistry and Clinical Coordinator of the BSc Physician Assistantship Programme. He is also the Head of the Infectious Disease Unit at the University Hospital and serves as the Training Coordinator for house officers, Residents and Interns.

I contribute to post-graduate medical training as a trainer for the Family Medicine programme of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, Accra. Since 2018, I have been the Chair/President of AfriWon Renaissance, the young doctors movement of the World Organisation of Family Doctors (WONCA).

He has been a Trial Clinician, Site Coordinator or Principal Investigator in COVID-19 Vaccine Trial, Clinical Trials in Lymphatic Filariasis/Onchocerciasis and other studies in Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS).

He currently has 21 publications in refereed journals. In 2019, the Society of Family Physicians of Ghana (SOFPOG) honoured him with the 5-Star Doctor Award for his “enormous contribution to health care as a care provider, a decision-maker, a communicator, a community leader and a team member”.
