Dr. Mrs. Eunice Agyeman Ahmed is a Specialist Haematologist at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi, where she also serves as the Acting Head of the Clinical Haematology Unit within the Laboratory Services Directorate. She has held various roles in the healthcare sector, including as a medical officer, senior house officer, and junior house officer at multiple teaching hospitals in Ghana. Dr. Ahmed is currently pursuing a PhD in Global Health with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and is undergoing fellowship training with the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons.
She has contributed significantly to both research and clinical practice, with a focus on sickle cell disease, haematology, and blood transfusion. Dr. Ahmed is involved in multiple international and local research initiatives, including clinical trials on sickle cell disease and studies aimed at improving patient-centred care in sub-Saharan Africa. She is also a co-investigator in several pan-African health research networks and collaborates with prestigious institutions such as Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
Dr. Ahmed is an active participant in various professional conferences, workshops, and committees. She has contributed to the development of standardized care guidelines for sickle cell disease in Africa and has presented at numerous international medical conferences. Her expertise also extends to teaching, as she holds adjunct lecturer and facilitator roles at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives, and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where she mentors medical students and residents in haematology and other specialties.
In addition to her clinical and academic achievements, Dr. Ahmed is a member of several professional associations, including the Ghana Medical Association, the Ghana Association of Haematologists, and the Medical Women’s Association of Ghana. She is known for her strong communication and interpersonal skills, resilience, and problem-solving abilities, and she is committed to enhancing healthcare through research, teaching, and the delivery of high-quality patient care.
