Dr. (Med) Jennifer Ama Makam is a medical officer currently serving with the Haemovigilance and Clinical Services Unit at the Greater Accra Regional Blood Centre of the National Blood Service, Ghana. Her work focuses on maintaining and improving donor safety, overseeing donor management processes, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical services within the blood service framework.

In her current role, Dr. Makam is responsible for the medical assessment and management of blood donors, with particular attention to the care of anaemic donors. She is also actively involved in donor counselling, providing medical advice, psychological support, and appropriate referrals to individuals who require follow-up care. Her responsibilities further include interfacing with clients and healthcare providers who require the services of the Blood Service.

Her professional activities contribute directly to national efforts in Ghana, aimed at strengthening transfusion safety and donor health. She plays a key role in supporting the principles of haemovigilance, working to prevent and manage adverse events related to blood donation. Her approach reflects a commitment to both clinical standards and the wellbeing of individuals who engage with the blood donation system.

She remains an integral part of the multidisciplinary team within the Greater Accra Regional Blood Centre and supports the National Blood Service’s objectives in promoting voluntary blood donation and improving the safety and quality of blood products in Ghana.
