Dr Kevin Onyinkwa Ombati MBChB, MMed, ESCR

Dr. Kevin Onyinkwa Ombati is a highly accomplished Senior Instructor, Section Head, and Programme Director at the Aga Khan Medical College, East Africa. He is also a Consultant in Cardiothoracic Imaging at The Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi. Dr. Ombati's distinguished career in medical education and radiology is marked by his dedication to advancing cardiothoracic imaging.

Dr. Ombati completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Nairobi in 2011. He further specialized in imaging and diagnostic radiology, earning his Master of Medicine (MMed) from the Aga Khan University Medical College, East Africa, in 2017. His commitment to cardiothoracic imaging is evident through his active involvement in applying new techniques in Cardiac MRI and CT.

In addition to his academic qualifications, Dr. Ombati holds a certificate in cardiac imaging from the European Society of Cardiac Radiology (ESCR). He is currently working towards completing his Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) examinations. As a corresponding member of several international organizations, including the Society for Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (SCMR), the ESCR, and the European Society of Thoracic Imaging (ESTI), he maintains active engagement with the global radiology community.

Dr. Ombati has played a pivotal role in multidisciplinary meetings as the radiology lead in cardiothoracic discussions with other clinicians. His leadership and expertise were recognized during his tenure as the chief resident radiologist at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi (AKUHN) in 2016, culminating in the Best Resident Award from the Kenya Association of Radiologists in 2017. His research interests focus on developing novel imaging biomarkers in cardiothoracic imaging and assessing cardiac imaging findings in patients with HIV.

An accomplished researcher, Dr. Ombati has several publications in peer-reviewed journals, contributing significantly to the field of radiology. His dedication to both clinical excellence and academic advancement continues to drive innovations in cardiothoracic imaging, benefiting both patients and the medical community.
