Augustine E Sagoe is an Infectious Diseases specialist, a West African Health Organization Focal IPC Consultant, a Fellow of Infectious Disease Diagnosis from the Dr. Lee Jong Wook Institute of Infectious Diseases-Seoul, South Korea, an MSc holder in Immuno-Virology from the University of Havana-Cuba, with a BSc in Clinical Microbiology, and a Diploma in Human Identification from University of Human Identification - Johannesburg, South Africa.
Augustine had his first attachment at the Genetic Engineering Institute and the second at the Facultad de Biología/Instituto de Inmunología Molecular (Havana, Cuba). At the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Miami- Florida, USA, MLS Sagoe worked and taught Phlebotomy before returning to Ghana following national service at the Central Regional Hospital. Cape Coast. He worked as a clinical microbiologist at the Ghana Health Service (GHS) at the Central Regional Hospital Cape Coast; Health Ministry at The Gambia-Royal Victoria Hospital Banjul, The Gambia, and at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra, Ghana.
More so, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, he founded and served as the Technical Supervisor of the Immunology Department, Deputy Focal person of HIV/DNA analysis, Laboratory Manager, and Emergency Laboratory Project Director. He served twice as a Voluntary Member of the Democratic Republic of Congo –WHO, Ebola Outbreak, and a National Trainer on Infection Prevention and Control (Ebola specific) in Ghana. He was the National Rapid Response for Infectious Outbreak Team Lead for Laboratory, Ghana; and Amethyst Technologies, LLC/Avadim Technologies, WHO, CDC-Lead Technical Expect Consultant’s Services on Ebola Outbreak-Liberia.
LIC Sagoe is an IOM Certified Trainer in Clinical Laboratory Biosafety, a Technical Lead for INNOVATE Medical Centers Projects and Ebola Efforts in Liberia, and the Ghanaian Team Lead to Sierra Leone and Ghana on different occasions. He worked with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity USAMRAA) 820 Chandler Street Fort Detrick, Maryland as Quality Assurance Advisor- Immunologist to Tanzania. He is an appointed Mentor to the Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists, the National Laboratory Lead and Trainier on COVID-19 Case Management.
He is currently the Appointed Lab Head at the Ghana Infectious Disease Center (GIDC), Ga East Accra and the Laboratory Lead for the National Case Management Team for Yellow fever Outbreak - Savannah Region (2024. He is the WHO voluntary Consultant assessor for COVID-19 Case Management Monitoring & Evaluation in Bono, Savannah, Northern, Upper East, Northeast, and Upper West Regions of Ghana. LIC Sagoe has received prestigious and major awards including National-Grand Medal-Honorary in 2014 and Humanitarian Award Global in 2021.
